I like the word low-key, where it comes from (photography, painting) and what it stands for (quiet, restrained, reluctant, moderate, easygoing). And I saw the entry “low-key affair” in a dictionary. It means “ruhige Veranstaltung,” which made me smile. It might seem that there’s something missing in such an affair as opposed to lots of activity, speed and pathos. But no, there isn’t. On the contrary, it’s full of itself. As life always is. For now, happy November, happy lockdown, happy coziness.
